Psychotherapy and Counseling
Throughout the lifespan, even resourceful individuals sometimes find themselves „stuck“ in problem situations with seemingly no solution in sight. At such times, they may be engaging in negative thinking and behavioural patterns that interfere significantly with their ability to cope with stressful situations, which in turn can thwart access to their resourcefulness and creative problem-solving abilities.
Sometimes having persons outside of our immediate circle to listen carefully to our distress and dissatisfaction can be useful in helping us to:
- better understand ourselves,
- more clearly define our problems, goals and aspirations,
- identify and confront the roadblocks that stand in the way of achieving these goals, and (4) develop more effective strategies for attaining our goals.
With my extensive experience working in child and adult psychiatry as a psychotherapist and art psychotherapist, I have developed an empathic, solution-oriented approach to help individuals of all ages tap into their inner resources and develop better coping strategies in dealing with life issues. In a warm, accepting therapeutic atmosphere, you can make new discoveries, and re-connect with your own inner strengths, creativity, and resources.
I have many years of experience relating to:
- Attachment issues
- Childhood and Adult Trauma
- Relationship issues
- Stress Management
- Work-related Problems
- Life crises
- Low self-esteem
Individual sessions provide an opportunity to share your concerns with a qualified and experienced professional in a confidential and comfortable setting.
We have an initial meeting to assess your needs and explore how we might work together on mutually agreed upon goals as part of a therapeutic plan. In this first meeting you will also get an idea how comfortable you feel working together with me within a therapeutic setting. Additional matters to be discussed at our initial meeting include frequency, length, and time of appointments.
